How did February become Black History Month?

The earliest version of what is now black history month started in 1926 as Negro History Week organized by the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. The organization was founded 11 years earlier in 1915 by Carter G. Woodson and Jesse E. Moorland with a goal to bring attention to how underrepresented African Americans were in the books and conversations that shaped the study of American history.

2018 Is Shaping Up To Be A Great Year

You know that feeling where there are so many things going on in the world, and yet most things in your life are going so right? February has been that month for me and I think that’s largely in part due to the amazing accomplishments that occurred throughout Black History Month. From Colin Kaepernick fulfilling hisΒ 2016 pledge, to theΒ unveilingΒ of the President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s portraits, to the amazing music, movies and books that have been released.Β
